TRANSPER organizes the first “Perfolab Pilot Lisboa” in Lisbon

During this week, the “Perfolab Pilot” event will feature initiatives that cross Performing Arts, Technology, and Ecology.

From 2 to 6 February 2026, the TRANSPER project will host Perfolab Lisbon, a transdisciplinary pilot bringing together students and educators from Portugal, Italy, and Spain to explore the environmental impacts of digital technologies through performing arts and technological practices.

Perfolab Lisbon focuses on ecology and green practices, addressing critical issues such as pollution and waste management of digital devices, rare mineral extraction, energy consumption, and the environmental consequences of global digital infrastructures. The pilot adopts a critical perspective on digitalization, encouraging participants to question technology, humanize technical systems, and explore pathways toward more sustainable futures.

Participants from diverse academic backgrounds — including videogame design, acting, digital humanities, and computer engineering — will work in interdisciplinary and international teams. Through creative research methodologies, students will integrate performance, physical computing, creative coding, and media ecologies to develop site-based or site-responsive projects.

Perfolab Lisbon exemplifies TRANSPER’s commitment to innovative, transdisciplinary learning methodologies in higher education, fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and responsible engagement with digital technologies.
